B. F. Reames
Automotive was founded circa 1921,
primarily doing business remanufacturing
automobile and truck batteries. B. F. Reames,
Sr. was the proprietor and also performed much
of the work himself. It is said that he could
rebuild a battery, wearing a coat and tie, but never
get dirty. In addition to battery work, he also
performed oil changes and minor shop work. Having the
only legal still in Columbus at the time, he sold distilled
water, (which was used in batteries), to what is now
the Medical Center . Upon retiring, he gave this
still to the hospital and turned much of his battery
rebuilding equipment over to Chloride.
B. F. Reames, Jr. began his business in the late '40's,
becoming one of the first automatic transmission repair shops in Columbus. At
one time, he was shipping REA-BUILT transmissions to 32 states. Car dealers
as far west as Chicago were buying his REA-Built units. The quality work
performed in his shop then, is also evident today. We have now evolved
into a general repair shop, servicing all vehicles and performing repairs even
related to Electronic Diagnosis. Whether it is brakes, air conditioning,
tune-ups, or transmission repairs, we treat each customer as if they were a member
of our family. We always use Original Equipment quality parts that have factory
warranties and make every attempt to live up to our creed: Since 1921,
Doing It Right". We
take great satisfaction, just as B. F. Reames, Sr. did, in providing the best
service for our customers. Our customers truly are our best friends.
